Wil hails from Puerto Rico, where he worked in the family pizza business from age 10. Education was his means to escape that hard toil, seizing on to the fact that the Universidad de Puerto Rico School of Engineering was on the other end of the island. Upon graduating with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, he joined the Technical Staff at Bell Labs in New Jersey and went on to earn an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Years later he’d return to school, this time for an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Wil’s career opened and closed in Telecommunications. In between he had stints in the airline and software industries. He managed American Airlines’ pricing and yield management group for Latin America in the early 90’s. Later he joined Silicon Valley’s Tibco Software to drive alliances with other technology vendors. He returned to Telecommunications with Comcast Cable in Philadelphia. After ten years as VP of Plant Operations there, he moved to Sarasota and retired in 2017.
His passion for the work of UnidosNow flows naturally from the doors that higher education opened for him. Wil knows first hand the value of aiming high.
