Future Leaders Academy for Elementary Schoolers (FLAE)
FLAE is an elementary school program to empower 3rd to 5th-grade Latin students to develop skills like teamwork, perseverance, and leadership while exploring diverse fields, particularly in the areas of science and technology. Using a multi-generational model, we have developed a comprehensive, age-appropriate, and culturally and linguistically relevant framework that engages both students and their parents.
FLAE reflects an evidence-based strategy to advance equity for a population of predominantly first-generation, low-income students. Our focus on elementary school also addresses the lack of opportunities and encouragement in the Latino culture to explore nontraditional careers.
