Lisa Ramirez

Lisa came to the States as a two-year old from the other end of the hemisphere, Chile. She holds a BA in journalism, with a minor in Spanish, and has more than 17 years of experience working with Latino-serving national and community-based non-profits, including UnidosUS (formerly the National Council of La Raza).

Lisa has significant experience in nonprofit organizational development, strategic communications, health and wellness/health equity programming, coalition-building, and community and civic engagement initiatives.  As a returned Peace Corps volunteer, having served in Paraguay and the Dominican Republic, she also has experience working directly with marginalized communities in Latin America. 

Lisa currently serves on the boards of Healthy Teens Coalition and Manatee Educational TV, and the local NAACPs Cultural Competence Committee. She also served on the Latino advisory committees of the School District of Manatee County (SDMC) and the Ringling Museum. Lisa feels incredibly fortunate to be part of the UnidosNow team, which she joined in 2016.

Lisa llegó a los Estados Unidos cuando tenía dos años desde el otro extremo del hemisferio, Chile. Tiene una BA en periodismo, con una especialización en español, y tiene más de 17 años de experiencia trabajando con organizaciones sin fines de lucro nacionales y comunitarias que sirven a los latinos, incluyendo a UnidosUS (anteriormente el Consejo Nacional de La Raza).

Lisa tiene una experiencia significativa en desarrollo organizacional sin fines de lucro, comunicaciones estratégicas, programación de salud y bienestar / equidad en salud, creación de coaliciones e iniciativas de participación comunitaria y cívica. Como voluntaria del Cuerpo de Paz que regresó, habiendo servido en Paraguay y la República Dominicana, también tiene experiencia trabajando directamente con comunidades marginadas en América Latina.

Lisa actualmente es miembro de las juntas directivas de Healthy Teens Coalition y Manatee Educational TV, y del Comité de Competencia Cultural de NAACPs local. También sirvió en los comités asesores latinos del Distrito Escolar del Condado de Manatee (SDMC) y el Museo Ringling. Lisa se siente increíblemente afortunada de ser parte del equipo de UnidosNow, al que se unió en el 2016.
