UnidosNow Receives Grant From Gulf Coast Community Foundation

Funding Supports Elementary and Middle School Programs

(August 9, 2023) Gulf Coast Community Foundation recently awarded UnidosNow a grant in the amount of $15,000 for its Future Leaders Academy program for elementary and middle school students. The program empowers 3rd to 8th-grade Hispanic students with developing teamwork and leadership skills while also exploring diverse careers, particularly in the areas of science and technology. The generous grant is made possible through the Elva Brant and Donald Dirr Charitable Foundation at Gulf Coast Community Foundation, a donor-established legacy endowment.

The grant will allow UnidosNow to expand these highly successful youth programs, which reflect an evidence-based strategy to advance equity for a population of predominantly first-generation, low-income students. The grant will also assist the nonprofit in serving more students and their families in the region through education, college preparation, leadership training, community service, and civic engagement.
